Medicaid Waiver Wait List

Across the nation there is a growing number of needy individuals and families being placed on Medicaid Waiver wait lists. In the state of Florida alone there are approximately 20,000 individuals who are waiting, many for as long as 7+ years.    Among these are adult developmentally disabled persons who reside with their aging parents who are struggling to provide the physically demanding care that is necessary or are fearful of what will become of their loved one when they die or are no longer able to meet the daily demands.   If you have a child who is receiving services through the educational system, be aware that once your child transitions from school, he or she may be placed on the wait list.
